Discusses Microsoft IT's deployment of Microsoft Server Virtualization. Microsoft Hyper-V is designed to service machine virtualization needs for server consolidation and virtual desktop infrastructures. Hyper-V, which is available in Windows Server 2008 R1, Windows Server 2008 R2, and dedicated Hyper-V Server products, allows multiple virtual machines (VMs) to run concurrently on the same physical server resulting in significant cost savings in hardware consolidation and energy usage.
