Before you perform this procedure, confirm that:

Important

At the minimum, you must be a member of the Site Administrators SharePoint group to complete this procedure.

Configure the Document Conversion Load Balancer Service

You can configure the Document Conversions Load Balancer Service on a stand-alone server or on one server in a farm. When you configure the load balancer service, it points to a load balancer server that distributes the work.

Important

Turning off the Document Conversions Load Balancer Service stops the document conversion process and turns off the Document Conversions Launcher Service. To resume the document conversion process, you must restart the Document Conversions Load Balancer Service and the Document Conversions Launcher Service in that order.

To configure the Document Conversion Load Balancer Service

  1. On the top navigation bar of the Central Administration Web site, click Operations.

  2. On the Operations page, in the Topology and Services section, click Services on server.

  3. In the Services list, click Document Conversions Load Balancer Service.

  4. On the Load Balancer Service Settings page, in the Select Server section, select the name of the server on which you want to run the Document Conversions Load Balancer Service.

  5. In the Communication Scheme and Port Number sections, specify the scheme and port number that the load balancer is to use for communication.

  6. Click OK.

    Important

The Document Conversions Load Balancer Service and the Document Conversions Launcher Service are often run on application servers, not front-end Web servers. Wherever they are run, the services must be configured to communicate with the front-end Web servers.
