Customize the WSUS Administration Console

 

Applies To: Windows Server Update Services, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1

You can configure how information about Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) 3.0 SP2 is displayed in the WSUS Administration console in the following ways:

  • You can display information from downstream replica servers when you view computer and update status information.

  • You can display validation errors in pop-up windows. If this option is not selected, validation errors display as Tooltips.

  • You can display information in the Computer Overview To Do section.

To customize the WSUS display

  1. Open the WSUS Administration Console by following the instructions in Open the WSUS Administration Console.

  2. Click Options, and then click Personalization.

  3. On the General tab, select the check box for the following option that you prefer:

    • Include computers and status from replica downstream servers

    • Show computers and status from this server alone

  4. On the General tab, select the Show validation errors as popups check box if you prefer to see errors in this manner.

  5. On the To Do List tab, select the following items that you want to display in the To Do List:

    • Computers have not reported status for more than 30 days

    • WSUS updates are waiting to be approved for install

    • Security updates are not approved for install

    • Critical updates are waiting to be approved for install

    • Computers have requested nonexistent computer groups

    • The server database is almost full

    • SSL is not enabled

    • New products and new classifications have been added in the past 30 days

    • Update file languages are enabled on this server, but are no longer supported by the upstream server

  6. Click OK.
