Doing more with Windows Azure

There has been a lot of talk about Windows Azure over the last couple weeks. At the Microsoft Management Summit 2013, Brad Anderson (Corporate Vice President, Windows Server & System Center) highlighted a number of Windows Azure capabilities in his keynote speech; Windows Azure Active Directory was recently made available for general use; and the new update to Windows Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) was just announced. So it should be no surprise that this edition of TechNet Flash has a fair amount of Azure-related content.

For those of us who weren’t able to attend MMS 2013, Brad Anderson has put together a thorough blog post that provides a detailed overview of the six demos (outlines and slides included) that were presented as part of his keynote. And those of you interested in the Windows Azure IaaS update will want to check out the information about the new release and the free trial.  Meanwhile, a month-long series by Technical Evangelist Keith Mayer will help you to build your own private cloud in just one month. Mayer will also be leading a live, hands-on lab on April 25 when he’ll discuss how you can leverage the Windows Azure cloud platform to build VMs and virtual networks in the cloud. And for a quick guide to extending your private cloud with Windows Azure, check out this step-by-step overview.

But not everything is in the cloud. We have a lot of other great content, as well. For starters, Microsoft Virtual Academy recently hosted a live Q&A that focused on Microsoft's approach to virtualization. A recording of that discussion is now available on demand. And a new white paper that shares first-hand insights from the Microsoft IT Team will be handy for organizations getting ready to deploy and manage Windows 8 in their environments. There is the release of MDOP 2013 and Cumulative Update 1 for Exchange Server 2013. And that’s just some of the new content you’ll find in this edition of the TechNet Flash Newsletter.
