Installing Unsigned Driver Packages in Legacy Mode

By default, DIFxApp installs only signed driver packages and driver packages that do not have missing files. However, DIFxApp can be configured in legacy mode to install unsigned driver packages and driver packages that have missing files. However, be aware of the following restrictions about legacy mode:

  • DIFxApp accepts unsigned driver packages. However, Windows driver signing requirements apply to the installation of a driver package from the DIFx driver store. For more information about the installation of unsigned driver packages, see DIFx Installation Guidelines.

  • If there are files missing that are required to install a driver package, the system prompts the user to provide the location of the missing files to complete an installation.
