Note from the Editor

Greetings New TechNet Flash Subscriber,

It’s a new year and that can only mean one thing here in Redmond: We’re getting ready to launch some core products with “2008” in their names. For IT professionals, we’re mainly talking about Windows Server 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008. If you haven’t done so already, it’s time to catch up on the changes in functionality between Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008. Or discover the new features first-hand with the Windows Server 2008 Release Candidate evaluation. One of the cool new capabilities in the upcoming release is the Hyper-V technology for creating and managing a virtualized server computing environment. And if you are looking to implement virtual machines, don’t miss TechNet Magazine’sguide to setting up Virtual Machine Manager.
