2012 launch wave = 2013 training wave

No time for a collective "whew!" Following the most extensive launch wave in Microsoft's history, it's tempting to look back and enjoy the accomplishment. But now the fun begins.

In the TechNet feature packages, we've moved through introduction and deployment topics for Windows Server 2012, System Center 2012, Windows 8, SQL Server 2012, and Windows Azure. But we also realize that these new releases represent major upgrades, and that you will also want to upgrade your knowledge and skills.

For many of you, 2013 will be a time of testing and training for these new platforms. So we devoted a TechNet feature package to the training resources to help you build on your skills in the new year.

We've structured the package to show the range of training resources for each platform, from primers to in-depth hands-on training and certification. Each platform section leads off with the link to download the trial version, a necessary first step for most training scenarios.

We hope you'll take the time to broaden your skills in 2013. A recent IDC study, commissioned by Microsoft, found that demand for cloud-ready IT workers will grow by 26 percent annually through 2015, with as many as 7 million cloud-related jobs available worldwide. However, lack of training, certification, or experience are the top three reasons why an estimated 1.7 million open cloud-related positions were not filled in 2012.

Thanks for reading, and happy New Year,
