Windows PE 2005

At my company we use LanDesk. I was told I need a licensed version of Windows PE 2005. Where can I get this? I have already downloaded the free version.

—Larry F.

The current version of Windows PE is available as part of the Windows Automated Installation Kit, which is available online. Versions prior to that were only available as part of a Microsoft Volume Licensing Agreement to Volume License holders.

From the TechNet Forums

TechNet Magazine is partnering with the Microsoft TechNet Forums, which hosts topics ranging from Windows Vista and Exchange Server to SharePoint, SQL Server, and general IT. Go to social.technet.microsoft.com/forums to see what people are talking about. Here are some examples of what you'll find there.

BizUnit and NUnit

QI am trying to build a testing framework using BizUnit and NUnit, and I need to be able to script the starting and stopping of a BizTalk application running on a 64-bit server. How is this done?

ATo start and stop the BizTalk applications, you could use the BTSControl command-line tool.

Another resource is Thomas Restrepo's Windows PowerShell script for starting and stopping the application hosts, a closely related task. It's available at "BTSReset with PowerShell." Take a look at his functions for starting and stopping the BizTalk hosts.

You can also have a look at the Microsoft SDC Tasks.

Mailbox Server Maintenance

QWhat are the best practices of managing mailbox server? I am looking for regular maintenance tips for using Exchange Server 2007 SP1 features and tips for doing it manually.

ATo manage messages inside mailboxes, you can create Managed/Custom folders and then configure Messaging Record Management (MRM). MRM is an important tool because it keeps messages that are needed to comply with company policy, government regulations, or legal needs, and removes content that has no legal or business value.

Various tasks to configure MRM to manage messages and e-mails of mailboxes include the following: Create managed folders, Create managed content settings, Create managed folder mailbox policies, Apply managed folder mailbox policies on mailboxes, and Schedule managed folder assistant on mailbox database.

Here are a few references you should also read: "Exchange 2007 Messaging Records Management, Part 1" and "Exchange 2007 Messaging Records Management, Part 2."

For more about Exchange, see these Exchange Server 2007 videos, hosted by CBT Nuggets trainer, J. Peter Bruzzese. Also, MSExchange.org has step-by-step articles with screenshots.

Finally, there is in-depth information on Exchange Server 2007 available on TechNet. And you can also read the interesting Microsoft Exchange Team Blog.
