Commerce Server Staging is a tool that you use to perform staging tasks such as starting and stopping the staging service, setting authentication for the staging service, and creating projects and routes for staging. Projects define the Web site assets that you want to stage—Web content, business data, or Internet Information Services (IIS) Metabase. Routes define the source and destination servers, including specific directories, for the deployment of the assets.

The Microsoft Management Console (MMC), a Windows-based interface, hosts Commerce Server Staging.
