Automatically generate project IDs

Click Organization administration > Common > Number sequences > Number sequences.
Select the number sequence that you want to work with.
On the Action Pane, on the Number sequence tab, in the Maintain group, click Edit
On the General FastTab, in the Setup area, select Manual or Continuous. If you select Continuous, you can also select the To a lower number or To a higher number check boxes in the Allow user changes area.
Click Project management and accounting > Common > Projects > All projects.
Press CTRL+N to create a new project.
In the Create project form, in the Project ID field, enter a project number.
Note
The project ID format of a subproject is based on the format of the parent project ID and the subproject that is specified in the Format field in the Projects form.
