Structure designer (form)

Click General ledger > Setup > Financial statement (traditional) > Row definition. Click Structure designer.

Use this form to create and manage row lines for financial statements. Use the Row definition form to create a row definition, or define a row line.

To display the row lines in a hierarchical structure, select the Tree control check box. You can drag main accounts from the Accounts tab to the tree structure when you design the financial statement.

Click Edit to modify the row line and a list of values that you can select.

Move financial dimension values or main accounts to the tree

You can use the following methods to move financial dimension values or main accounts to the tree:

  • Click a financial dimension value or main account in the rightmost pane and drag it to the tree structure.

  • Double-click a financial dimension value or main account in the rightmost pane.

  • Select several financial dimension values or main accounts in the rightmost pane and drag them to the tree structure.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Fields

These fields are displayed at the top of the form and are always available.

Field

Description

Tree control

Select this check box to display the row lines in a tree structure.

Clear this check box to display the row lines in a grid.

Check

Select this check box to display duplicate row line values when you simulate the report by selecting the Simulate check box.

Note

You can click Print to print an report that displays the inconsistencies.

Simulate

Select this check box to do the following:

  • View the list of row line values that will be displayed on the report for the definition.

  • View how the row line will appear on the printed financial statement.

  • View duplicate values when the Check check box is selected.

Row definition

The identifier of the selected row line.

Name

The name of the selected row line.

Tabs

These tabs are always available.

Enter additional information about a selected row line.

These tabs, buttons, and fields are available only on the Designer tab.

Tab

Description

Accounts

View the main accounts that you can use in the row. This tab is available only when the row definition that you selected in the Row definition form contains a financial dimension set that has the main account as a financial dimension.

Financial dimensions

View the financial dimensions that you can use in the row. This tab is available only when the row definition that you selected in the Row definition form contains a financial dimension set that does not have the main account as a financial dimension.

Structures

The identifier of the selected row definition.

General

Select a row type and name for internal use, and to be printed on the financial statement.

Setup

Set up parameters for the layout and the data to print on the financial statement.

Special report

Specify how to print the row line on a financial statement.

Button

Description

Create

Create a row line.

Edit

Modify the selected row line. When you click this button, different tabs are displayed in the rightmost pane.

Delete

Delete the selected row line.

Copy

Copy the selected row line.

Move

Move the selected row line. After you click Move, click the new location for the row line in the tree structure.

Print

Print the row structure or one of its branches.

Sum up

Add selected arguments to the calculation expression and summarize the arguments.

This button is available only on the Setup tab in the rightmost pane of the Designer tab. It is available only for row lines that have a row type of Calculation.

Field

Description

Row name

The name for the row line. For main accounts, this is the account number. For financial dimensions, this is the financial dimension value.

Row description

The description of the row line in the tree structure. If the row line is a main account, this is the account name. If the row line is a financial dimension value, this is the description of the dimension value.

Print name

The name of the row line, as it will be displayed on reports.

Print description

The description of the row line, as it will be displayed on reports.

Type

Select or view the type of the row line that is selected in the left pane.

  • Element – Identifies row line values, such as main accounts or financial dimension values.

  • Group – Identifies a row type that can be used as a header for a group or subtotal, such as a header for a collection of main accounts or financial dimension values.

  • Structure – Identifies or refers to another row definition.

  • Calculation – Expresses a calculation that uses other rows.

  • Exception – Produces an exception report when the financial statement is generated. The report lists the missing or duplicate balances in the row definition.

Topic

The financial dimension or main account. This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Dimension or Structure. This field is not editable for rows that have a row type of Structure,

Row definition

The row that is selected in the Row definition form.

Branch

Select a branch to link the row line to. This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Structure.

Value

The value of the specified financial dimension or main account. For example, if you enter p*, !Proj, any departments that start with p, but not with Proj, will be listed in the hierarchy. You can use this field to automatically include specified values that were created in expressions, so that you do not have to drag them individually to the tree structure.

This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Dimension.

Hidden

Select this check box if you do not want to print the row line.

This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Calculation.

Indented

Select this check box to indent the content of the row when printing.

This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Calculation.

Header

Select this check box if the row is a header row.

Subtotal

Select this check box to summarize subnodes.

Print subcomponents

Select this check box to print subcomponents of the current row line.

Invert sign

Select this check box to reverse the sign for negative values.

Debit/Credit

Select to display row line information as a debit or a credit.

Reference

Enter a reference to a field in a different table.

This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Structure.

Calculation expression

Enter the expression components using the format #1, #2, and so on.

For example, if you have added two row definition nodes and you enter a + operator in this field, the sum of the two row definition nodes is added to the financial statement.

This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Calculation.

ID

The ID of the argument for the current calculation row.

Row name

The name of the argument for the current calculation row.

Row description

The argument for the current calculation row.

Exception type

Specify what types of exceptions should be rendered.

Period code

Select the period code type to display for the financial dimension value or main account.

This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Dimension.

Posting layer

Select the code for current, operations, or tax transactions.

This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Dimension.

Column

Enter the number of the column in which the main account or financial dimension value should be printed when balances are displayed.

Bold

Select this check box to print the main account or financial dimension value in bold text.

Italics

Select this check box to print the main account or financial dimension value in italic text.

Underline amount

Select this check box to underline the amount fields for the main account or financial dimension value when they are printed.

Underline text

Select this check box to underline the text fields for the main account or financial dimension value when they are printed.

Line break position

Select where a blank addition line should be inserted.

For example, if you select Before, a line break will be inserted before the selected row line on the financial statement.

Page break position

Select where a page break should be inserted.

For example, if you select After, a page break will be inserted after the selected row line on the financial statement.

Setup tab

These fields are available only on the Setup tab.

Field

Description

Name

Select this check box to include the line row name on the financial statement.

Description

Select this check box to include the line row description on the financial statement.

Dimension type/set

Select this check box to include the name of financial dimension type or financial dimension set on the financial statement.

Value/structure

Select this check box to include the line row value or structure on the financial statement.

Debit/Credit

Select this check box to include the line row debit or credit proposition on the financial statement.

Period code

Select this check box to include the period code on the financial statement. You can select the period code to display in the Period code field on the Setup tab for the rightmost pane on the Designer tab.

This field is available only for rows that have a row type of Dimension.

Layer

Select this check box to include the line row layer on the financial statement.

Company

Select this check box to include the line row legal entity on the financial statement.

XBRL

Select this check box to highlight XBRL taxonomy elements on the financial statement.

Indicate times used

Select this check box to calculate and show how many times the line row is used in the structure. The Times used field appears in the grid on the rightmost pane. When you select the Simulate check box, the Times used field is updated with the actual number.
