Manage alert rules (form)

Use this form to manage the alert rules that you have set up in the Create alert rule form.

Note

You are notified if you change a rule that affects records that you have already been alerted about. For example, the event for a rule is "Was due 20 days ago", and you change the event to "Was due 30 days ago". You are asked whether you want to receive alerts about records that you have been alerted about in the last 10 days.

Overview tab

View the alert rules that are available to you.

General tab

View or modify the setup of individual rules. By default, rules are enabled. However, you can clear the Enabled check box on this tab to disable rules.

View and maintain the alerts that the current alert rule has generated.

Create alert rule

Open a menu that contains the following items:

  • From template – Select a template to use to create an alert rule.

  • On %1, where '%1' is the main table, such as Purchase order – If the Manage alert rules form was opened from another form, not from the Tools menu, create an alert rule in the form from which the Manage alert rules form was opened.

Description

Subject

The title line of the alert that is triggered by the current rule.

Enabled

A selected check box indicates that the alerts that are triggered by the rule can be sent. By default, this check box is selected.

How often

Specify whether the rule is active indefinitely, or whether it has an end date.

Until

Specify the date on which the rule expires.

User ID

Specify the user who receives the alerts that are generated by the current alert rule.

Organization-wide

Indicates whether the table that the alert is on is shared among all legal entities.

Field

The field in a form that is monitored by the alert rule.

Event

The type of event that triggers an alert.

The following links provide more information about the three event types:

No end date

Select this option to indicate that alerts are triggered indefinitely. The rule never becomes inactive.

End date

Select the last date that alerts are triggered. After the selected date, the rule becomes inactive.

Message

The message text of the alert that is triggered by the current rule.

Show pop-ups

Select this check box to send the alerts that are generated by the current alert rule are sent as pop-up messages.

Send e-mail

Select this check box to send the alerts that are generated by the current alert rule as email messages.
