Product builder prerequisites [AX 2012]

A number of areas in Microsoft Dynamics AX must be set up before you can work with Product Builder.

To use Product Builder for a configured item, you must set up production, sales or purchases, and sales planning. The areas that relate to sales orders, sales quotations, purchase orders, and production orders must also be set up.

At minimum, the following areas must be set up before you can use Product Builder:

  • Inventory management

  • Accounts receivable, including customer information

  • Accounts payable

  • Production control

  • Sales and marketing

  • Project management and accounting

  • Resource groups in Organization administration

  • Master planning

  • Enterprise Portal for Microsoft Dynamics AX
