  • Modify a generated schedule.

The following table provides descriptions for the controls in this form.

Fields

Field

Description

Project ID

Select the project to schedule activities to.

Model

Select the forecast model for the activity schedule.

In/Out

Select Forward or Backward to indicate whether the project should be scheduled forward or backward in time.

Date

Specify a date for the project start.

Time

Specify a time for the project start.

Method

Select a scheduling method.

In most cases, the Operations scheduling option is sufficient for project scheduling. The level of detail in this scheduling method is fairly low compared to the level of detail in the Job scheduling method. By using this scheduling method, no specific operations resource is allocated.

Sort using

Select the sorting order for the project scheduling.

Primary resource selection

Determines the scheduling engine optimization strategy.

The scheduling engine examines combinations of resources to identify those that satisfy requirements. You can specify selection criteria for the scheduling engine by selecting one of the following values in the Primary resource selection field:

  • Duration - The scheduling engine chooses the resource with the shortest lead time. This may result in decreased performance, which can be a concern when there are many resources in the same resource group and secondary operations are used. A maximum of 32 resources can be scheduled per operation. Extending this quantity results in an Infolog, and the job scheduling will not find the best alternative resource.

  • Priority – The scheduling engine chooses the resource that has the highest priority (lowest numeric value) when two or more resources have identical capabilities and levels.

Finite capacity

View capacity limitations. The time reserved for activities that are already planned is deducted from the schedule.

Keep production unit

Select this check box to instruct the resource scheduling engine to use only resources that are bound to the production unit that is already selected.

Schedule references

Select this check box to include activities on all levels of the main project in the schedule.

If you clear this check box, the only activities scheduled are those referring to the project that is specified in the Project field.

Synchronize references

Select this check box to specify which project determines the positioning of remaining projects, within one project hierarchy. That is, the project specified in the Project field determines the distribution of activities before, and after the specified project.
