Production - Estimation (class form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Production control > Periodic > Production orders > Estimation.

Use this form to run an estimate of how much a production order will consume in material and capacity costs. The item consumption, time consumption, item reservations, and price calculations are calculated for the production.

Estimation is a mandatory step in the production life cycle and occurs after a production order is created. If you do not run the cost estimation manually, the cost estimation is run automatically before a production order is scheduled. When the estimate is completed, the status of the order changes to Estimated. If you change the bill of materials (BOM), route, or quantity on a production order after you have run an estimate, you must run the estimate again to update the calculations.

Fields

Field

Description

Production

Specify the production to be cost-estimated. The value in this field is used to populate the Name field. You can select any production that is not yet estimated. You can also select multiple productions by clicking Select and entering a query.

Profit-setting

Specify the profit setting that is used in the cost estimation. The profit setting influences the calculation of the sales price for the items that are produced on the production order. You can select any existing profit setting.

A sales price is calculated based on the profit percentage in the assigned profit setting. The production has a series of operations that are attached to it through the production route. The operation is associated with a cost category that, in turn, is associated with a cost group. Each cost group can have one or more profit settings and corresponding profit percentages.

Example

You assigned several profit settings to a cost group. You can categorize revenue by using certain predefined market areas, such as earnings of 20 percent from dealers, 35 percent from consumers, and so on.

References

If this check box is selected, any production references that are referenced by the production order are also calculated. This check box is always selected for productions that have not yet been estimated.

Late selection

If you set up batch processing to recur indefinitely, select this check box to process new production orders.

This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed.
