This version of MapPoint will open and read the following files (their associated file extensions are shown in parentheses):

Notes
When you save a map or map template with this version of MapPoint, the file is saved in the file format for this version of MapPoint. Therefore, if you open a file that is not a map or template with this version of MapPoint, make changes to it, and save it, you can only reopen the file with the same version of MapPoint.
MapPoint cannot read Pushpin sets from Streets & Trips 2000. To add a Pushpin set from Streets & Trips 2000 to MapPoint, you must export the Pushpin set from Streets & Trips 2000 and import it into MapPoint.
Saved settings
The following settings are saved when you save a map or map template using MapPoint:
Map view The exact view and altitude of the map.
Highlighted items The highlighted routes and highlighted places.
GPS trail The exact route followed based on input from your GPS device after you select Start GPS tracking.
Map style Can be either road map, data map, road and data map, political map, or terrain map.
Map font The size of text labels on your map.
Data legends All information about the data that is displayed on the map.
Data mapping preferences The settings that determine how your data is mapped.
Data links Links to external data sources that are used for data mapping.
Drawing objects Any items that are created by using the drawing tools and their settings.
Legends The show/hide state of all legend entries and their settings.
Program settings The show/hide state of all windows, task panes, and toolbars.
Pushpins Their locations, including any text in the associated Pushpin balloons, as well as the state of the text in Pushpin balloons (show information, hide information, show name, hide name).
Custom symbols Graphics you have imported to the map to be used as Pushpins.
Routes The start point, stops, and end point of routes.
Driver profiles Driving and road preferences.
Detour areas Any areas that are designated to be avoided.
Directions settings The settings that determine how driving directions are displayed.
Find Nearby Places search preferences The type and size of the area to search when looking for places near a given point on the map.
Show information settings The show/hide state of information for businesses, attractions, or Pushpins on the map.
Printing settings The settings that determine how map files are printed.
Drivetime zones Drivetime zone settings.
Territories Territory groups and their settings.
