Journal lines, Inventory to fixed assets (form)

Click Fixed assets > Journals > Inventory to fixed assets. Enter or select a journal and then click Lines.

Use the Inventory journal when you remove items from inventory, assemble and use them as fixed assets, or transfer items that are purchased or manufactured for sale to Fixed assets. Then use this form to enter additional information about each transaction.

To update a new fixed asset, enter information in the Fixed asset number, Value model, and Transaction type fields.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Description

Overview

View a list of fixed assets journal lines for a specific fixed asset journal. You can also create, delete, or modify fixed asset journal lines.

General

View additional information related for the selected fixed asset journal. This includes journal line and inventory information.

Journal

View information about the fixed asset journal that includes the journal lines.

Financial dimension

View information about financial dimensions, such as the default dimensions and where the dimensions are used in account structures and advanced rule structures.

Inventory dimensions

View or specify information about inventory dimensions. By specifying inventory dimensions for an item, you narrow the search for the item to, for example, an item in a specific warehouse that has a specific pallet ID.

Validate

Validate that the journal lines that are selected are ready for posting.

Post

Check for errors and post the journal line transactions.

Log

View any errors that were found when the journal lines were validated or posted.

Inventory

View inventory information for the journal line that you selected. These include inventory transactions, the available inventory for the selected item, and reservations.

Functions

Click Delete journal lines to remove the journal lines.

Fields

Field

Description

Date

The date for the inventory transfer. When you click Post, the date of the inventory transaction for the item is updated to the date of the physical transaction and the date of the financial transaction. You can change the date until the line is posted.

If you cannot post because of a problem with a date, you can verify that an open period exists in the Fiscal calendars form for the fiscal calendar that is used with the transaction. For more information, see About fiscal calendars, fiscal years, and periods.

Fixed asset number

The number of the fixed asset that the item is assigned to.

Value model

The value model for the current transaction.

Transaction type

The type of transaction for the fixed asset.

Item number

The number of the item that is being transferred.

Configuration

Select an item configuration to select an item that has specific attributes.

Size

The size of the item.

Color

The color of the item.

Site

The site where the item is located.

Warehouse

Enter the warehouse where items are stored.

Batch number

Enter the batch number dimension. If you select Edit lines and Explode lines in the Receive form, you can modify the batch number for the transfer order line.

Location

The location inside a warehouse.

Pallet ID

The pallet ID that contains the item.

Serial number

The serial number dimension. If you select Edit lines and Explode lines in the Receive form, you can modify the serial number for the transfer order line.

Quantity

The quantity to adjust.

Cost price

The cost per unit for inventory receipts.

Cost amount

The quantity received or issued, and the cost, in the form of an amount. The cost per unit is recalculated if you change the cost.

Release date

To put a transaction on hold until a specified date, enter that date. You still can modify the transaction, and it can be posted on or after this date.

If this field is blank, the transaction can be posted at any time.

Note

You can clear this field to remove the hold.

Journal

The journal number, which is allocated based on the voucher series that is specified for the selected journal. You can select a voucher series for the journal name in the Journal names, inventory form.

Line number

The identifier of the line.

Voucher

The voucher number that is assigned automatically for posting.

Reason code

Select the reason for the transaction.

Note

The reason code requirements that are set up in the Fixed assets parameters form determine whether a reason is required.

Reason comment

Enter a reason description.

If you select a reason code before you enter a reason comment, the default comment that is set up for the reason code is displayed. You still can change the comment.

Price unit

The value of the item.

Charges on cost

The cost from the setup of charges for the item. You cannot change the information in the Charges field in the transfer journal because when items are transferred, they are always received at the same value at which they were issued.

Lot ID

The lot ID that the line is associated with.

Dimension No.

The identifier of the dimensions of the item.

Return lot ID

Enter lot numbers for items that are being returned.

Financial dimension

The financial dimensions that were set up in the Financial dimensions form.

Where the %1 dimension is used

The account structures and advanced rule structures that use the financial dimensions that you selected in the Financial dimensions or Default financial dimensions field group.

Note

The name of the field depends on the selection in the Financial dimensions or Default financial dimensions field group.

Inventory dimensions

The inventory dimensions for the transaction.
