Updated: October 18, 2012

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Human resources > Setup > Payroll > Personnel categories.

Use this form to create and assign wage groups to a personnel category in order to divide the category according to various criteria, such as levels of skill or experience. Similarly, you can divide wage groups by creating payroll scale levels for each wage group.

Wage groups are useful when a worker has acquired a new skill, education, or certificate that broadens their abilities within the company; their manager can then elevate the employee to the next scale level.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Payroll scale levels

Opens the Payroll scale level form, where you can create and manage the pay progression in the selected wage group.

Wage group

Enter a unique name for the wage group.

Personnel category

The unique identification of the personnel category that is associated with the selected wage group. This field is always the name of the personnel category that you selected in the Personnel category form when you clicked the Wage groups button.
