Working time templates (form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Organization administration > Common > Calendars > Working time templates.

Use this form to set up templates that define the regular work times in your legal entity. For example, the work times may be a 24-hour production sequence in which the resources are machines. Alternatively, the work times may be a work week that consists of day shifts for machine operators, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in which the resources are workers. After you define the work times in the templates, you can use the templates to create and manage work time calendars for your operations resources.

More information about efficiency and properties

  • Efficiency – You can specify an efficiency rate for each period that you set up. For example, if the evening shift operates at an efficiency rate of 75 percent, whereas the day shift operates at 90 percent, you can record the information in this field. The effects of these rates are factored into the available capacity of operations resources and the whole system.

  • Property – You can assign properties to each period that you set up. The scheduling engine uses properties to optimize production schedules. Properties are set up in the Properties form. For more information, see Properties (form) topic. When a property is assigned to a period, only operations that have the same property, or no property, can be scheduled during that period.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Fields

Field

Description

Working time template

Enter a unique identifier for the working time template.

Name

Enter a description of the working time template. This description appears in lists that are used to select working time templates.

Select so that materials are not picked for production during the period specified in the From and To fields.

From

Specify the time that the work period starts on the current weekday.

To

Efficiency

Specify the efficiency percentage that is used for scheduling for the selected period. The following formula is used: Scheduling time = Time * 100/Efficiency percentage.

Note

In the formula, Time includes both processing time and setup time. For example, if the efficiency percentage is 200, all scheduling times are cut in half.

Property

Assign properties to the selected period. Properties are used to schedule and structure productions. Productions that share the same properties can be produced at the same time.
