Cost template (form)

Click Project management and accounting > Setup > Estimates > Cost template.

Use this form to set up the project cost template.

A cost template is a method for outlining the following estimate information about fixed-price projects:

  • Cost estimates for a particular estimate project

  • Percentage of completion for projects that are posted according to the percent-complete revenue recognition accounting rule.

Open the Cost lines form and specify cost lines.

Cost template ID

Enter a short, unique ID for the cost template that is no longer than 10 characters.

Name

Enter a descriptive name for the control type that is no longer than 30 characters.

Hour cost line ID

Expense cost line ID

Item cost line ID

Enter a name for the cost line for each expense type. You must define at least one estimate line each for hour, expense, and item transaction types on the Cost lines form.

Completion method

Specify whether to maintain a percentage of completion automatically or manually.

  • Automatic – Percentage of completion is calculated automatically on a project. The resulting value cannot be changed.

  • Manual – Percentage of completion is calculated automatically on a project. The resulting value can be changed.

Note

For manual calculations, the percentage of completion is maintained in the Manual calculation field on the General tab in the Estimate form.

Completion based on

The calculation unit is used to follow up on fixed-price projects.

  • Amount – The amount in accounting currency is used when calculating a percentage of completion.

  • Unit – The quantity is used when calculating percentage of completion.
