Posted transactions are designated with the settlement period in which the taxes that are related to the transaction must be reported. You select sales tax settlement periods for sales tax codes. Sales tax codes are added to the sales tax groups and item sales tax groups that are selected for transactions.

Task that uses this form

Set up a sales tax settlement period

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tabs

Tab

Description

General

Set up the sales tax authority code, terms of payment, and length of the periods that are included in the sales tax settlement period.

Periods

Add or remove the periods of the sales tax settlement period. You can create all the periods manually, or you can create the first period manually and then click New period to create subsequent periods. If your legal entity performs cash flow forecasts that estimate sales tax payments, create several periods in the future.

Note

You cannot change a period for which a sales tax payment transaction is posted. Likewise, tax transactions cannot be removed from the period in which they were posted. To correct errors, you must create an offsetting transaction that is identical to the original transaction, but that has the opposite mathematical sign.
