Shipment templates (form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

This topic applies to features in the Inventory management module. It does not apply to features in the Warehouse management module.

Click Inventory management > Setup > Distribution > Shipment templates.

Use this form to define shipment templates that can be used when you create a shipment.

Note

When you create a shipment in the Shipments form, you can base the shipment on a template. The values of the fields in the Ship from, Reservation, and Configuration field groups are copied to the shipment.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Description

Priority

Enter the priority to use for the shipment template when shipments are created automatically. For more information, see About shipment templates and priorities.

Shipment template

The identifier of the shipment template.

Site

Select the site to ship from.

Warehouse

Select the warehouse to ship from.

Outbound dock

The identifier of the location. Together with the warehouse, this identifier is used as a reference to the location.

By default, the outbound dock name is generated automatically, based on the coordinator that is defined for the location in the Inventory locations form. The location's coordinator consists of the aisle, rack, shelf, and bin.

To enter the identifier manually, you must select the Manual update check box on the General tab in the Inventory locations form.

Reservation required

Select this check box to indicate that a shipment can be activated only if all items can be reserved.

Sequence ID

The reservation sequence that is used for shipments that are based on this template.

Outbound rule ID

Select the rule to use for outgoing processes.

Joint packing

Select how the orders are grouped when you create picking routes. Select one of the following options:

  • All – The whole shipment can be packed together.

  • Same customer – Orders for a single customer can be packed together. Orders for different customers must be in different picking routes and cannot be included together in the same pallet transport.

  • Order – Each order must be packed separately.

Automatic shipment creation

Select this check box to automatically create a new shipment when an output order is created. For more information, see About shipment templates and priorities.

Automatic addition status

Select the status in which output orders can be added to the shipment. Output orders can be added when they are in the selected status or a status that is below the selected status.

Select one of the following options:

  • None

  • Registered

  • Reserved

  • Activated

  • Picked

  • Staged

  • Loaded

If you select None, orders are not added automatically.

Date criterion

Select the last date that orders can be included in the shipment.

Joint shipping

Select how output orders are assigned to shipments. Select one of the following options:

  • All – All output orders are assigned to one shipment, regardless of the customer and the order number.

  • Same customer – Output orders are assigned to a shipment based on the customer reference. If output orders are processed for different customers, the output orders are assigned to separate shipments.

  • Order – Output orders are assigned to a shipment based on the order number. If output orders are processed for different order numbers, the output orders are assigned to separate shipments.

  • Grouping inventory reference – Output orders for withdrawal kanbans are grouped based on the ID of the parent manufacturing kanban.

If you use this option with output orders that do not reference kanbans, the grouping reference is the same as the reference for the output order.

    Note

This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed.
