Routing Engine: PollingInterval parameter is non-default

[This topic is intended to address a specific issue called out by the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool. You should apply it only to systems that have had the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool run against them and are experiencing that specific issue. The Exchange Server Analyzer Tool, available as a free download, remotely collects configuration data from each server in the topology and automatically analyzes the data. The resulting report details important configuration issues, potential problems, and nondefault product settings. By following these recommendations, you can achieve better performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime. The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine whether Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) connector routing logic has been modified from its default setting:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\RESvc\Parameters\PollingInterval

If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that the PollingInterval registry key is present and configured with a value greater than 300, a non-default configuration message is displayed.

The PollingInterval registry entry is a custom configuration setting for Exchange Server that helps control the frequency of link state traffic among routing groups, specifically to and from the routing group master within a routing group. Increasing this setting will prevent connections from failing, but it may prevent you from addressing the larger issue of slow links between members of a routing group.
