Exchange 2007 server object has been moved to a different administrative group

[This topic is intended to address a specific issue called out by the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool. You should apply it only to systems that have had the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool run against them and are experiencing that specific issue. The Exchange Server Analyzer Tool, available as a free download, remotely collects configuration data from each server in the topology and automatically analyzes the data. The resulting report details important configuration issues, potential problems, and nondefault product settings. By following these recommendations, you can achieve better performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime. The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine the value of the serialNumber attribute for all Exchange Server objects in the directory.

The Exchange Server Analyzer also queries the value for the cn attribute of the administrative group the server that is running Exchange Server is homed in so that it can determine whether it is the dedicated Exchange 2007 administrative group, Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT).

If the Exchange Server Analyzer determines that the server is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, but is homed in an administrative group other than Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT), the Exchange Server Analyzer displays an error.

This error indicates that the server may have been manually moved from the dedicated Exchange 2007 administrative group and may be causing mail flow issues.

The serialNumber attribute is a string value that includes both the version of Exchange Server and the version of the service pack, if it is installed. A value of the serialNumber attribute equal to Version 8.0 indicates that the server is running Exchange 2007.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server use Administrative Groups to group Exchange objects for the purposes of delegating permission to manage those objects. Exchange 2007 does not use Administrative Groups as a logical management unit. To support coexistence between Exchange Server 2003 or Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange 2007, all Exchange 2007 servers are automatically added to a single Administrative Group when Exchange 2007 is installed. This Administrative Group is recognized in the Exchange System Manager in Exchange Server 2003 as Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT).

To resolve this issue, remove and reinstall the server.
