Support for S/MIME in Exchange ActiveSync is similar to support for Outlook Web Access without the S/MIME control and Outlook Mobile Access. Exchange ActiveSync clients can display clear-signed e-mail messages. The signature is not kept when replying to or forwarding the message. There is no support for sending or reading encrypted e-mail messages.

As with Outlook Web Access without the S/MIME control and Outlook Mobile Access, there are no actions required to enable this support. It is automatically enabled as part of the support for Exchange ActiveSync clients. Also, this capability cannot be disabled.
