Custom Deployment Scenarios
This section presents two custom deployment scenarios, including overviews of the general configuration requirements for each one.
Using a network service provider to send and receive mail. This scenario explains how to configure your Exchange server to use a dial-up connection for Internet mail delivery.
Supporting two SMTP domains and sharing an SMTP domain. This scenario addresses issues that are common in a merger or acquisition. In the early stages of an acquisition, you may need to support two existing SMTP mail domains; in the later stages, it is common to share a single SMTP mail domain between two mail systems. This section explains how to configure Exchange in both situations. Additionally, it explains how to use a new tool, called Address Rewrite, to rewrite outgoing e-mail addresses for users on a subsidiary company's mail system.
