Outlook Mobile Access

Support for S/MIME in Outlook Mobile Access is similar to support for Outlook Web Access without the S/MIME control. Outlook Mobile Access clients can display the message of a clear-signed e-mail message. The signature is not kept when replying to or forwarding the message. There is no support for sending or reading encrypted e-mail messages.

As with Outlook Web Access without the S/MIME control, there are no actions required to enable this support. It is automatically enabled as part of the support for Outlook Mobile Access clients. Also, this capability cannot be disabled.

For a list of supported Outlook Mobile Access devices, review Microsoft Knowledge Base article 821835, "Overview of Mobile Devices That Are Supported by Outlook Mobile Access." Because support for reading clear-signed messages is integrated into Outlook Mobile Access client support, all supported clients also provide clear-signed message capabilities.

For more information about the S/MIME capabilities that Outlook Mobile Access supports, see S/MIME Support in Exchange 2003 E-Mail Clients.
