The Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Management Pack for Operations Manager monitors the Windows Application log on computers that are running Exchange Server 2007 and generates this alert when the event or events specified in the following Details table are logged.

The RPC call to the Cluster service to take the Microsoft Exchange clustered resource offline failed.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the specified Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 cluster resource could not be taken offline. In a clustered Exchange environment, this event may indicate a failure in either a move group operation or a failover operation, where resources were not successfully moved to the specified target node in the cluster. This event may occur when one or more of the following conditions are true:

  • The specified resource refers to a mailbox or public folder database which may be inconsistent or corrupted.

  • The user account for the specified resource does not have sufficient permissions to take the resource offline.

To resolve this error, follow these steps:

  1. Review other related Error and Warning events in the Application and System logs. These related events may help you find the root cause of this error.

  2. Review cluster logs for any related failures. Cluster logs are located at %SYSTEMROOT%\Cluster\Cluster.log.
