There is an error in your Outlook Web Access configuration - the configuration for a virtual directory could not be found; review MSExchangeOWA event 16 for the cause. This can be fixed using the Exchange Management Console.

Explanation

This Error event will occur if Outlook Web Access was unable to find its configuration in the Active Directory directory service. This could occur because of an error reading from Active Directory or because the object does not exist in Active Directory.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

  • If the virtual directory was created recently, wait for Active Directory replication to finish, and see whether the error goes away.

  • If you do not know whether the virtual directory was created, use the Get-OwaVirtualDirectory cmdlet to verify that it exists. Use the DomainController parameter to specify a domain controller in the same site as the server.

  • If the virtual directory appears not to exist, use a tool such as ADSIEdit to find the object. If it is not in Active Directory, use the New-OwaVirtualDirectory cmdlet to create it. You may first have to remove the Outlook Web Access virtual directory from Internet Information Services (IIS).

  • If you have difficulty resolving the issue, contact Microsoft Customer Support. For information about how to contact support, visit Microsoft Help and Support.
