The Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) monitors the Windows Application log on computers that are running Exchange Server 2007 and generates this alert when the event or events specified in the following Details table are logged.

To learn more about this event, do one or more of the following:

  • Review the description of the event that includes the variables specific to your environment. From the MOM Operator Console, select this alert, and then click the Properties tab.

  • Review all events that have been logged that meet the criteria of this MOM alert. From the MOM Operator Console, click the Events tab, and then double-click the event in the list for which you want to review the event description.

Explanation

This alert indicates that Microsoft® Exchange Active Directory® Provider cannot obtain DNS records.

  • If this event was triggered by event 2105, it could not obtain records for the domain specified in the event description.

  • If this event was triggered by event 2106, it could not obtain records for the forest specified in the event description.

This alert may occur when DNS is configured incorrectly for the domain or forest.The Active Directory topology discovery will continue with the default values specified in the event description for event 2105 or 2106.

User Action

To resolve this warning in future topology discoveries, follow these steps:

  • If event 2105 triggered this alert, make sure that the domain controllers for the domain specified in the event description are registered correctly on the DNS server. If event 2106 triggered this alert, make sure that global catalog servers for the forest specified in the event description are registered correctly on the DNS server.
