An unhandled exception occurred while the UM worker process (UMWorkerProcess.exe) was stopping.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that an unhandled exception occurred when the Unified Messaging Worker Process (UMWorkerProcess.exe) was stopped. When the Microsoft® Exchange Unified Messaging service starts, a UM Worker Process is also started. The Exchange Unified Messaging service first accepts the calls sent by the IP/VoIP gateway and then tries to redirect the calls to the UM Worker Process. If the UM Worker Process become unresponsive or exceeds the lifespan, the Exchange Unified Message service stops the existing UM Worker Process, together with the resources consumed by it, and creates a new UM Worker Process to continue to process any new requests. If you create a new process and redirect calls to it, you can make Unified Messaging more efficient and reliable, even when the original worker process serving the requests has problems.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

  • Restart the Exchange Unified Messaging service.

  • Restart the UM server.
