Explanation

User Action

To resolve this warning, do one or more of the following:

  • Make sure that the domain controller specified in the event description is correctly registered on the DNS server. For more information, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 247811, How Domain Controllers Are Located in Windows.

  • If DNS suffixes are specified on Advanced TCP/IP Settings, make sure that FQDN of the domain that contains the DNS server is listed first. To verify this, do the following:

    1. In Control Panel, double-click Network Connections.

    2. Right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.

    3. Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

    4. Click Advanced.

    5. In the Advanced TCP/IP settings dialog box, click the DNS tab. If there are any entries under Append these DNS suffixes (in order), make sure that FQDN of the domain that contains the DNS server is listed first.

  • If you are using a BIND DNS, try using a Microsoft Windows AD DNS.

  • Make sure that the Exchange Servers and Exchange Enterprise Servers group are added to Manage auditing and security log under User Rights Assignments on Domain Controller Security Settings. To verify this, do the following:

    1. Open the Default Domain Controllers Security Settings snap-in on the domain controller specified in the event description.

    2. In the console tree, under Security Settings, expand Local Policies and then click User Rights Assignments.

    3. In the results pane, double-click Manage auditing and security log. Verify that both the Exchange Servers group and the Exchange Enterprise Servers group are listed.
