Remote mailflow transactions are failing.

Explanation

This alert indicates the Test-Mailflow cmdlet encountered transaction errors while attempting to run a remote message test on a Mailbox server.

When you run the Test-Mailflow cmdlet on a Mailbox server and any of the following parameters are specified, the Mailbox server sends test e-mail message to the destination Mailbox server:

  • TargetEmailAddress

  • TargetMailboxServer

  • AutoDiscoverTargetMailboxServer

These parameters are mutually exclusive. If more than one of these parameters is specified, an order of precedence is applied from highest to lowest as specified in the previous list. When a remote test is performed, the source and destination servers must both have a System Mailbox mailbox or the TargetEmailAddress parameter must be specified.

User Action

To resolve this alert, do one or more of the following:

  • Verify that the account that is used to run the Test-Mailflow cmdlet has the following permissions assigned:

    • Exchange Server Administrator role and local Administrators group for the server where the cmdlet is run
  • Verify that the target Mailbox server has a System Mailbox mailbox for each mailbox database that exists on the server, or that the mailbox that is specified by the TargetEmailAddress parameter exists.
