The Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Management Pack for Operations Manager monitors the Windows Application log on computers that are running Exchange Server 2007 and generates this alert when the event or events specified in the following Details table are logged.

To learn more about this event, do one or more of the following:

  • Review the description of the event that includes the variables specific to your environment. From the Operator Console, select this alert, and then click the Properties tab.

  • Review all events that have been logged that meet the criteria of this Operations Manager alert. From the Operator Console, click the Events tab, and then double-click the event in the list for which you want to review the event description.

Explanation

This event indicates that the Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service logged an error when attempting to copy a file.

  • If MSExchangeFDS event 1019 is logged, this Error event indicates that the Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service did not synchronize offline address book files between servers that are running Exchange Server and that run the Mailbox server role and Client Access (CAS) server role. The File Distribution service is used to distribute offline address book files and custom Unified Messaging prompts.

    This event may occur when either of the following conditions is true:

    • The synchronization operation is interrupted.

    • The destination directory that is specified in the event description cannot be found.

  • If MSExchangeFDS event 1020 is logged, this Error event indicates that a generic failure occurred during a file copy operation. The error message specified in the event description indicates a specific cause for this failure.

User Action

To resolve this error, follow one or more of these steps:

  • Restart the Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service from the Microsoft Windows Services console.

  • If Event MSExchangeFDS event 1020 is logged, search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for information about the error specified in the event description. To do this, use the Search Knowledge Base feature at the Microsoft Help and Support Web site.

  • Review the Application log for related events. Events that occur immediately before and after this event may provide more information about the root cause of this error.
