Operation Console Enhancements in Operations Manager 2007

The Operations Manager 2007 Operations Console integrates functionality for administrators, authors, and operators into a single user interface.

Some of the enhancements in the Operations Manager 2007 Operations Console include the following:

  • A consolidated console that includes administrative, reporting, authoring and monitoring areas. You can control who has access to these different areas using user roles.
  • The ability to personalize the console with My Workspace so that you can save searches and views that you use most often.
  • Overview pages for each navigation pane that summarize the available actions that you can take in each pane.
  • Dashboard views that can display multiple view types, such as performance and state, in the same window.
  • The ability to launch tasks directly from a link in the text of a knowledge article.
  • The ability to switch from an alert to the originating event or monitor.
  • Enhanced performance views.
  • Extensive command-based actions that work within the PowerShell environment.

Task Functionality

Operations Manager 2007 provides real-time task status regardless of the target. There is also greater granularity of control over who can run tasks and on which monitored objects.

Operations Manager 2007 also provides a Run As option that enables you to launch a task with different permissions without going through the process of logging out and logging back into the system.
