Edge Transport Node (RTM)

Use the Edge Transport node to view and maintain the features of the Edge Transport server role.

The following action is available either by right-clicking Edge Transport or by selecting the options that are directly underneath Edge Transport in the action pane.

  • View
    Click View in the action pane to modify how objects are displayed in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). The following options are available:

    • Add/Remove Columns

      Click Add/Remove Columns to select which columns you want to display in the result pane and to change the order. The available columns depend on the node that you select.

      MMC automatically saves your settings. To revert to the default column view, click Restore Defaults in the Add/Remove Columns dialog box.

    • Save Current Filter as Default

      Click Save Current Filter as Default to make the existing filter the default filter for the servers listed in the result pane.

    • Visual Effects

      Click Visual Effects to set the visual effects to be always on, never on, or automatic. Use the visual effects setting to configure how Exchange wizards are displayed. If your connection is slow when you run wizards, you can increase performance by turning off visual effects. Use the Automatic setting to have the Exchange Management Console detect if your system should have visual effects turned on or off.

    • Customize

      Click Customize to select the MMC components and snap-ins to display or hide. These settings apply to the whole MMC. For more information, see Customize View.

Server Configuration Options in the Action Pane

When you select the Edge Transport node, the result pane displays the name of the Edge Transport server. The following actions are available either by right-clicking on the name of the Edge Transport server in the result pane, or by selecting the actions that are located directly underneath the name of the Edge Transport server in the action pane.

  • Disable Anti-spam Updates or Enable Anti-spam Updates
    If anti-spam updates are enabled, click Disable Anti-spam Updates to disable anti-spam updates. If anti-spam updates are disabled, click Enable Anti-spam Updates to enable anti-spam updates. For more information, see Anti-Spam Updates.

Server Configuration Objects in the Work Pane

When you select the Edge Transport node, the result pane displays the name of the Edge Transport server. The work pane lists several tabs that you can use to configure the Edge Transport server. When you click one of the tabs, additional related tasks that you can perform appear in the action pane.

The following tabs are available in the work pane of an Edge Transport server.

  • Accepted Domains
    Click the Accepted Domains tab to create new accepted domains, or to view, modify, or remove existing accepted domains. For more information, see Managing Accepted Domains.
  • Receive Connectors
    Click the Receive Connectors tab to create new Receive connectors, or to view, modify, or remove existing Receive connectors. For more information, see Receive Connectors.
  • Send Connectors
    Click the Send Connectors tab to create new Send connectors, or to view, modify, or remove existing Send connectors. For more information, see Send Connectors.
  • Transport Rules
    Click the Transport Rules tab to create new transport rules, or to view, modify, or remove existing transport rules. For more information, see Overview of Transport Rules.
