How to Configure the Mobile Device Client Agent

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

The Device Client Agent is used to enable and configure the following:

  • Mobile device poll settings

  • Mobile device software inventory

  • Mobile device hardware inventory

  • Mobile device software distribution

  • Mobile device file collection

When you configure the mobile device client agent, the changes that you make in the properties dialog box are valid for all of the mobile device clients in the Configuration Manager 2007 site.


Use the following procedure to modify the mobile device client agent properties:

To modify the mobile device client agent properties

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> - <site name> / Site Settings / Client Agents.

  2. In the results pane, right-click Device Client Agent and then click Properties. The Device Client Agent Properties dialog box is displayed.

  3. Enable device management features and configure settings using these tabs:

    • General

    • Software distribution

    • Software inventory

    • Hardware inventory

    • File collection

  4. Click OK.
