Prepare Analysis Services Server to host analysis databases

Updated: 2009-04-09

This article is only applicable to Planning Server distributed deployment. It is not for a stand-alone deployment.

If your Analysis Services (AS) databases are to be hosted on an AS server computer that is separate from Planning SQL Server Application database, you may need to manually set up the permissions to enable the service identity (SI) account for the AS server to communicate with the computer running SQL Server. However, if the Analysis Services service on one computer is running the same domain account as the other SQL Server service on another computer, then you do not need to do this step. See Installing SQL Server and SQL Server Analysis Services for details on choosing this service account.

Procedures

Assign permissions on the Analysis Services computer

  1. Start SQL Server Management Studio.

  2. Connect to your Analysis Services server.

  3. In the Object Explorer pane, right-click (Microsoft Analysis Server 9.00.xxx…), and then click Properties.

  4. Click Security, and then click Add.

  5. Add your new SI account, and then click OK.

  6. Click OK to close the Properties window.

Your SI account has now been added to SQL Server Analysis Services.
