Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Before starting deployment of your edge servers, you need to complete the following steps:

  1. Decide which edge server you need in your organization.

  2. Choose the deployment topology that best meets the needs of your organization.

  3. Plan for your perimeter network infrastructure.

  4. Establish a deployment process for how you will deploy edge servers.

  5. Meet all edge server deployment prerequisites. Use the Office Communications Server 2007 Planning Guide to ensure that your servers meet the hardware prerequisites and review the capacity model.
