Configure Microsoft Site Server, and install and configure LDAP Membership Server. Authenticate subscribers using Site Server.

Use the InstallShield Wizard to do the file copying and setting up registry settings for the MSCMS 2001 server. Install the MSCMS 2001 Site Builder. Uninstall MSCMS 2001.

Chapter 3, "Installing MSCMS 2001 Server and Site Builder"

Install the Microsoft SQL Server database to be used with MSCMS 2001, with the Database Configuration Application.

Use the Server Configuration Application (SCA) to do several configuration tasks, including changing the size and location of the cache, changing the URL type, setting security information, and viewing product license key information.

Install the MSCMS 2001 Content Connector for Commerce Server 2000. Unpack the sample site, launch the Business Desk for the sample site, delete a site, and uninstall Content Connector.

Install MSCMS 2001 Site Stager, create or change a Destination User, and start the Task Scheduler service.

Check the meaning and remedial action for error messages encountered during installation of the server, database, Site Builder, and the Server Configuration Application.

Conventions Used in This Guide

We have used several document conventions in this guide to help you identify and find information.

Two components of the Microsoft Content Management Server 2001, the MSCMS 2001 Site Builder and MSCMS 2001 Web Author, are always capitalized. However, references to the server and database are not capitalized: MSCMS 2001 server and MSCMS 2001 database.

Information that requires special attention comes in three types as described below: Caution, Tip, and Note.

Caution

Caution means reader be careful. In this situation, you might do something that could result in loss of data or degradation of product performance.

Tip

Tips provide helpful suggestions for using Content Management Server 2001 effectively. Tips are not necessary to the basic understanding of the text.

Convention

Bold

Italic

This style indicates the title of a book or manual. Most commonly it is used to refer to other documentation in the MSCMS 2001 information product suite.

Monospace

This style denotes source code and names of programming functions. For example, "When implementing image tags in HTML be sure to always use width and height attributes, as shown below."
