Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 will reach end of support on April 11, 2017. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Applies to: Exchange Server 2007

Use the Edge Subscriptions tab to manage the subscriptions that enable replication of configuration data from the Active Directory directory service to the local Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) instance on the computer that has the Edge Transport server role installed. If you are installing more than one Edge Transport server, you must configure a separate Edge Subscription for each server.

You must import an Edge Subscription file before the Edge Transport server appears in the Edge Subscriptions list. You must first create the Edge Subscription file by following these steps:

  1. Run the New-EdgeSubscription cmdlet on the Edge Transport server to create an Edge Subscription file.

  2. Copy the Edge Subscription file to the computer that has the Hub Transport server role installed.

  3. Run the New-EdgeSubscription cmdlet or use the New Edge Subscription Wizard on the Hub Transport server to subscribe the Edge Transport server to an Active Directory site.

The Edge Transport servers are then associated with the Hub Transport servers in that site. This association is used to configure the Send connectors that enable mail flow to and from the Internet.

  • Name
This field shows the name of the Edge Transport server that is subscribed to the Exchange organization.
  • Active Directory Site
This field identifies the Active Directory site to which the Edge Transport server is subscribed. The Hub Transport servers in that Active Directory site are used as the smart hosts for the Send connector from the Edge Transport server to the organization.
  • Remove
To remove an Edge Subscription, select the Edge Subscription that you want to remove, and then click Remove. You must remove the Edge Subscription from both the Hub Transport server and the Edge Transport server. Use the Remove-EdgeSubscription cmdlet to remove the Edge Subscription from the Edge Transport server.
