Use the Sender Reputation feature to enable or disable sender reputation functionality for the local computer and to access the sender reputation properties pages.

Sender reputation continuously monitors senders and their past Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) interactions, such as the amount of spam and messages that are not spam that a sender has sent. Sender reputation relies on such data about the sender to determine what action, if any, to take on an inbound message. Sender reputation functionality is also known as "protocol analysis."

  • Enable or Disable
    To enable or disable sender reputation, in the action pane, click Enable or Disable as appropriate.

  • Properties
    To access the following Sender Reputation information, in the action pane, click Properties.

    • To view display-only information about sender reputation, including whether the agent is enabled, use the General tab.

    • To enable or disable detection of open proxy servers, use the Sender Confidence tab.

    • To set the sender reputation block threshold and to designate how long the sender is put on the IP Block list when the threshold is exceeded, use the Action tab.
