Deploy a Web Server Certificate to Your Site Systems
In Configuration Manager 2007 native mode, many site system roles that run Internet Information Services, such as the management point, require a Web server authentication certificate to authenticate these servers to the client, and to encrypt all data transferred between them using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
Configuration Manager 2007 does not request the certificates from a public key infrastructure or install certificates on any of the site systems. These must be deployed externally to Configuration Manager 2007.
Important
If you do not install the Web server authentication certificate on the management point prior to deploying Configuration Manager 2007 clients, the clients will not be able to communicate with the site.
