Call Viewer

Call Viewer

Call Viewer is one of the Speech Application Log Analysis Tools included with Microsoft Speech Application SDK. It is designed to extract call event information from a database, and present views of that data for analysis. The primary use for Call Viewer is in finding and diagnosing problem calls.

Using Call Viewer

This section presents two common scenarios for using Call Viewer.

Investigating a Specific Call

A customer service manager calls the application developer, Dan, with a concern about the experience of a specific customer. The manager knows what number the customer called, the approximate time of the call, and gives Dan a second-hand description of the caller's experience. With this information Dan will use Call Viewer to find the logged event data for the call, and provide the details to the manager.

Investigating MSS Behavior

A system administrator, Owen, sees from daily log reports that values for some MSS metrics are rising more than expected. The administrator needs to find the cause for this. Owen uses a Call Viewer query to select all calls with user-perceived latency over a threshold value, and calls with high Web page retrieval latency. Owen looks at the detailed information on each call to determine which component is the bottleneck.
