Saving or Loading Speech Server Settings

Saving or Loading Speech Server Settings

Save Microsoft Speech Server (MSS) settings from one computer to a file, then load the settings onto another computer by using the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in for MSS.

For example, save settings before modifying or upgrading the current MSS installation.

The Settings file provides detailed information that can be examined before loading onto another computer, or provided to support personnel for diagnostics purposes.

Note  Loading and applying these settings may cause changes that require the computer to be restarted. Such a restart will not occur automatically; the administrator must manually perform the restart.

To save or load settings

  1. Open the MMC Administration console. (For instructions, see Administering Speech Server Using MMC.)

  2. In the console tree, double-click Microsoft Speech Server, and then double-click the applicable group.

  3. In the details pane, right-click the applicable computer, point to All Tasks, and then do one of the following:

    • Click Save Settings and select a file location to which to save the settings.

    • Click Load Settings and select a file from which to load the settings.

Remarks

If a language pack is installed on the computer whose settings are saved, non-English engine configurations are also saved. If no matching language pack exists on the computer where settings are to be loaded, SES displays "Not installed" in the Speech Engine Configurations tab of the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in. For more information, see Configuring Support for Additional Languages.

In MSS Enterprise edition, settings can be replicated from a computer running Speech Engine Services (SES) or Telephony Application Services (TAS) directly to all other computers running the same service within a group.
