Configuring Telephony Application Services

Configuring Telephony Application Services

Use the Telephony Services Configuration tab of the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in for Microsoft Speech Server (MSS) to specify:

  • Application settings, such as the Start page.

  • Global settings, such as the location of Speech Engine Services (SES), and the directory for storing recorded audio.

For instructions on how to open the MMC snap-in for MSS, see MMC Administration Overview.

To define application-specific settings

  1. In Inbound Application Start page, enter the URL to the default Web page that Telephony Application Services (TAS) loads at startup, or after a reset, for inbound call applications. (To manage multiple inbound call applications, this should always be TASStartpage.aspx on the Web server.)

  2. In Refresh Time (minutes), enter the amount of time to wait before refreshing the Start page. (A value of zero specifies no periodic refreshing.)

  3. In Notification Message Queue, enter the path name to the outbound message queue. This setting applies only to outbound calling applications. See Configuring Speech Server for Outbound Calling.

  4. Select the Enable SMEX check box to enable creation of custom Simple Messaging EXtension (SMEX) objects for applications that specify SMEX.

To define global settings

  1. In Speech Lobby URL, enter the URL to the SES lobby web service (Lobby.asmx), or to the load balancer for a SES server farm. (Enterprise Edition only; for Standard Edition and Developer Edition, this will be pre-populated and not editable.)

For example: https://your Speech Engine Services server name/SES/Lobby.asmx

  2. In Temporary Audio File Location, enter the path to the directory that stores speech recordings.

  3. In Speech Barge-in, select whether speech detection for barge-in occurs on the telephony card or in the speech recognition engine.

Remarks

Start pages must be located on the Web server and must be specified in the form of a URL served using HTTP before TAS can function.

MSS automatically adds the url for the Web server hosting the Start page to the list of Web servers that MSS trusts for fetching application resources.

Changing the value of a Start page also refreshes that page.

The Speech Barge-in setting is applicable only for applications that specify a prompt with bargeintype="speech".
