Installing Microsoft Enterprise Instrumentation Framework

Installing Microsoft Enterprise Instrumentation Framework

Microsoft Enterprise Instrumentation Framework (EIF) is required to enable logging in Microsoft Speech Server (MSS). The Speech Server Setup wizard will detect the presence of EIF and whether an existing installation is the correct version required by MSS. It will display the results on its Prerequisites screen.

If an installation of EIF is not found, red circle with an X - prerequisite software not foundappears on the Prerequisites screen next to the EIF listing. When the link in the listing is clicked, Setup launches the EIF installer to install the software on the target computer.

Note   EIF must be installed before beginning the MSS installation to successfully complete Setup.

If an incorrect version of EIF is found, red circle with an X - prerequisite software not foundappears on the Prerequisites screen next to the EIF listing. When the link in the listing is clicked, Setup prompts to upgrade the existing version to the required version. During this upgrade process, Setup launches the EIF installer, removes the existing version and then installs the required version. Any services currently using EIF must be stopped before proceeding with the upgrade.

Note   After the existing version has been removed, it cannot be reinstalled by canceling the upgrade.

If the required version of EIF is found, green checkmark - prerequisite software foundappears on the Prerequisites screen next to the EIF listing. No additional action is required for this prerequisite; therefore, there is no link in the listing.
