Speech Server 2004

Installing Microsoft .NET Framework

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is required to enable Microsoft Speech Server (MSS). The Prerequisites screen of the Speech Server Setup wizard detects the presence of the .NET Framework and whether an existing installation is the correct version required by MSS.

If an installation of the .NET Framework is not found, or an incorrect version is found, red circle with an X - prerequisite software not foundappears on the Prerequisites screen next to the .NET Framework listing. When the link in the listing is clicked, Setup will launch Internet Explorer to the .NET Framework page on Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Web site, where the most recent version installer can be downloaded. After installing .NET Framework 1.1, you must download and install Service Pack 1 from Microsoft Windows Update. (To install items from Windows Update, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group.)

Note   The .NET Framework must be installed before you begin the MSS installation.

If the required version of the .NET Framework is found, green checkmark - prerequisite software foundwill display on the Prerequisites screen next to the .NET Framework listing. No additional action is required for this prerequisite; therefore, no link appears in the listing.

Note   Certain speech applications may not install or function correctly on a computer that has both .NET Framework version 1.0 and .NET Framework version 1.1 installed. To resolve this issue, see the Enterprise Instrumentation Framework release notes provided on the MSS CD. More information is provided in this Microsoft Knowledge Base article.
