Setup Checklist for Standard Edition
Use this checklist when installing Microsoft Speech Server (MSS) 2004 R2 Standard Edition.

Verify that Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Enterprise Instrumentation are installed. |

Verify that Web server software is installed on a dedicated computer. |

For telephony (voice-only) systems, verify that telephony interface manager (TIM) software and an associated telephony board are installed. |

For telephony (voice-only) systems, install MSS 2004 R2 and select the Complete Setup option. |
||
For multimodal systems without telephony support, install MSS 2004 R2, select the Custom Setup option, and clear the Telephony Application Services check box. |

Verify that all MSS components installed successfully. |

For multimodal systems, install the Speech Add-in on client computers as needed. |
||
Add multimodal users to the access control list (ACL) as needed. |
||
Install language packs as needed. |
Remarks
All MSS deployments require at least one dedicated Web server computer. Multiple computers require load balancing. For more information, see Load Balancing and Availability.
