Verifying a Successful Installation
After installing Microsoft Speech Server (MSS), verify the services on each MSS computer to ensure that all applicable components have installed and started correctly.
To verify MSS services
Click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tasks, and then double-click Computer Management.
Expand Services and Applications, and then double-click Services.
In the details pane, verify that the following services are started:
On computers running Telephony Application Services (TAS):
Telephony Interface Manager (TIM) service (hardware-specific)
Telephony Application Services
On computers running Speech Engine Services (SES):
Speech Engine Services
Speechify Voice (text-to-speech engine for SES)
If a service is not started, right-click the service, and then click Start.
Note The TIM service must be running for TAS to start.
Follow the procedures below to verify the customer experience through TAS.
MSS Edition

Standard, or
Standard 180-Day EvaluationPlace a telephone call to the system to verify that it is responding properly.
Enterprise, or
Enterprise 180-Day EvaluationGrant client access to SES using the Windows Access Control List (ACL). See Assigning Permissions to Clients Using SES.
Copy StartPage.htm from the Microsoft Speech Server CD (located in \MSS\WinRoot\wwwroot\TAS\) to the wwwroot directory on either the SES computer or any Web server.
Set the Inbound Application Start page URL and the Speech Lobby URL. See Configuring Telephony Application Services.
Add the Web server to the MSS Trusted Sites list. See Adding or Removing a Trusted Site.
Place a telephone call to the system to verify that it is responding properly.
